For variable products in WooCommerce, the plugin can automatically swap the gallery images when a customer selects a product variation. This ensures that the customer always sees the correct images for the color, size, or style they have chosen.
How It Works
When variation image change is enabled, the plugin listens to WooCommerce’s built-in variation selection events. When a customer picks a variation — for example, selecting “Blue” from a color attribute — the main gallery image updates instantly to show the image assigned to that variation in the WooCommerce product editor.
When the customer clears their variation selection, the gallery resets to the original product images.
Enabling Variation Image Change
Go to the General tab of your Gallery Rule settings and toggle Variation Image Change to On.
Single vs. Multi-Image Variation Galleries
The free version works with the single variation image that WooCommerce stores natively per variation. For multi-image variation galleries — a completely separate set of gallery images for each variation — upgrade to the Pro version. The Pro version adds a dedicated gallery uploader inside each variation’s settings in the product editor.
